Phonetic Name Spelling
Why Use Phonetics?
Calls can give rise to a lot of misunderstandings and miscommunication. This is mostly because of differences in pronunciations, usage of language, inaudibility, and poor connections.
Even if the client has a commonly spelled name like “John”, keep in mind that letters can be misheard even on commonly spelled names, which is why we use phonetics to begin with.
When To Use Phonetics
- When spelling back the name before issuing a certificate.
- Any time there may be a hearing or language barrier issue.
- Use phonetics on the letters that can easily sound like other letters such as S/F, B/C/D/E/G/P/T/V/Z, etc..
- You don’t have to use phonetics on every letter of a name.
