Pro Bono Waivers
Definition
Pro Bono means that the attorney is representing the client free of charge.
Process
When an attorney or staff member of an attorney’s office calls in to advise that they have a pro bono client, the attorney must email either: probono@cricketdebt.com, probono@solidstartfinancial.com, or probono@urgentco.com and include the following information.
-
- client’s name
- state of residence
- number of dependents
- a copy of the completed Schedule B6i (sometimes just called Schedule i)
For auditing purposes, we must receive a separate email for each pro bono client. We will not accept a single email with a list of clients.
Pre-Approval Waiver List
- A pre-approved waiver list is maintained for clients who have not yet registered. (this list is internal only – do not disclose this to attorneys)
- When you are assisting a client who mentions pro bono or waived fees, please check the pre-approval list when you are at the waiver screen.
- If the client is listed, apply that waiver to their account.
- Add a note to the account ie., “On waiver list.”
- The client can then proceed through the counseling process at no cost to them.
- If a client states they are pro bono and we have not been notified by their attorney, please alert the client that their attorney must send us an email with the requirements mentioned above.
